The secret to creativity isn’t genetic - it takes an open mind, a lot of exploration, maybe some art lessons, and a ton of hard work. There are no shortcuts. I spend most of my time trying to undo those cheesy step-by-step TV painting lessons and places which offer a quick art fix.
Its like physical fitness: deep down we all know its going to be hard. The closest thing I did for fitness as a kid was go to the Wildwood Club for dinner. Now I've finished more than dozen marathons. As a result, I’ve gone from hating Prairie Winters to actually liking them - but I still need major motivation to get off the couch and run when its cold outside.
We all need inspiration. Maybe its some kind of link between the mental and the physical. Both art-making and running are mostly mental activities even though you end up being judged by the physical results. Both can be pastimes or passions. Mindless or mindful. I hope to inspire and be inspired - to motivate - educate - and create. And run while I think creative thoughts.
