Art Camp is Winnipeg's #1 Summer Art Program for ages 6 - 12
Art Camp is an exciting opportunity to work with professional artists and create with confidence.

Work in small groups
Limited enrollment lets us encourage each child's creative efforts and foster their interest in art. Our programs emphasize individual attention and students may be divided into smaller groups for personal instruction and age-appropriate activities.

Kids deserve more than arts & crafts
so we developed a program which gives them the opportunity to explore a variety of real art media in a creative setting. Let Art Intensive turn your child's summer into a season of creative expression and artistic accomplishment. We encourage children to learn, exercise their imaginations and have fun through challenge and achievement. We use only professional quality art materials. Egg cartons and popsicle sticks are simply not on our palette! All materials are provided.

Students will experience a huge variety of art media and techniques including:

Drawing
Learn the essentials of drawing through a variety of materials. By working in small groups we are able to teach valuable skills, encourage each child's creative efforts and foster their interests.

Painting
From colour theory to painting technique, children will exercise their imaginations and increase their ability of self-expression.

Sculpture
Sculpture projects will focus on the techniques of clay handbuilding and firing. Explore a variety of methods of making and finishing ceramic art.

Cartooning
Explore techniques of the world's great illustrators and animators.

Animation & the Art of Film
Learn the art of claymation. Plan the shot, focus the camera and direct the action. Sculpt, Shoot, Import, Edit and Upload animated films. Animations will be shared on the Paradise Art Youtube Channel.

Let the Lake inspire you.
Art at the Lake is an artistic escape unmatched anywhere in the world. Art at the Lake will transform your desire for creative expression into a lifelong experience and a great feeling of accomplishment. One of Canada’s most inspiring landscapes, Lake of the Woods will kindle your child’s creative spirit and spark their artistic passion. Art will be combined with a healthy balance of recreation, relaxation and fun.

Kids deserve more than arts & crafts
so we developed a program which gives them the opportunity to explore a variety of real art media in a creative setting. We encourage students to learn, exercise their imaginations and have fun through challenge and achievement. Forget egg cartons or macaroni - we use only professional quality art materials.

Painting
The Impressionists said you should trust your eyes. Based on scientific discoveries of the time, they found that light could be conveyed by colour. To prove their theories, they took their paint tubes and easels outdoors. Rebuffed at first for what critics claimed were unfinished paintings, their vision soon became the standard for truthfully conveying the outdoor experience. Painting “en plein air” would forever change how we see the world. Learn to make your impressions impress!

Drawing
Drawing well is all about how you perceive the world around you and interpret it into your own personal vision. The goal of Art at the Lake is to capture the light and forms distinctive of Lake of the Woods and the Canadian Shield.

Sculpture
Environmental Art is an evolving worldwide movement exploring nature’s processes and our relationship to it. Our art installations turn natural objects into art objects.

Film
Claymation. Music Videos. Silent Movies. Expressionism. We’ve even made a Spaghetti Western. Learn not only about film - but Art Film.

Accommodation
Our 6 bedroom cottage is on Turnbull Island, just south of Keewatin, Ontario off McKenzie Portage Road. We are approximately ten minutes from Kenora and the Lake of the Woods General Hospital in case of emergency. Jeff and Laura are aided by qualified staff who ensure the happiness and well-being of everyone.  All have CPR and first-aid training from St. John Ambulance. We also have a full-time Bronze Medallion lifeguard.

Food
Don’t expect mystery meat. Meals will be creative, delicious and fun. We will do our best to accommodate special diets and provide a vegetarian option at each meal.

Transportation
Round-trip transportation by car from Paradise Art to Kenora is included. Exact departure and arrival times to follow.
